Healthcare System Paralyzed As JOHESU Members Begin Indefinite Strike Action

The Joint Health Sector Unions and the Assembly of Health Care Professional Association have instructed their members to go on an indefinite strike.

EKO HOT BLOG the Assembly of Health Care Professional Association and the Joint Health Sector Unions have instructed their members to engage in an indefinite strike. Dr Obinna Ogbonna, JOHESU’s National Vice President, announced this during a press conference held on Thursday in Abuja.

JOHESU is the umbrella organization for health workers’ associations and unions, including Senior Staff Association of Universities’ Teaching Hospitals Research Institutes and Associated Institutions, Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, Nigeria Union of Allied Health Professionals, and Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria.
On May 9, 2023, JOHESU’s leadership sent a letter giving the federal government a 15-day deadline to resolve inconsistencies in negotiations over the Consolidated Health Salary Structure for health workers on their platforms. The ultimatum began on May 10, 2023, and expires at midnight on May 24, 2023.
