Herdsmen Attack Security Officers in Ondo
Armed Fulani herdsmen have attacked operatives of the Ondo State Security Network, also known as Amotekun, in Akure North local government area.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the attack left several persons injured, including security personnel.
The incident occurred while Amotekun officers were enforcing the anti-open grazing law in Igoba, along Ado Road.
According to Jimoh Adeniken, spokesman for the Ondo Amotekun Corps, the surveillance team was led to the farms by the owners, where they found over 120 cows grazing on the farms, but no herders were present.
The Amotekun operatives attempted to move the cows out of the farms, but were attacked by the herdsmen with stones, bottles, cutlasses, and guns.

Adeniken stated, “The assailants continued to throw stones and bottles till they invaded the main road and hacked one of the Amotekun officers into a coma, even as they attempted to disarm officers and men of the Amotekun corps.”
Several other officers sustained varying degrees of injuries during the attack and are currently receiving medical attention.
The owner of the cows has been identified, and an investigation is ongoing.
The government has vowed to continue enforcing the anti-open grazing law to protect farmers’ efforts and prevent destruction of their farmlands by herders and their cows.
Amotekun officers will continue to carry out their legal functions of protecting the people and properties of the state.
