Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has added another historic milestone to her name after Guinness World Records confirmed that her September 2025 achievement earned her an additional global title, making her a three-time record holder.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the confirmation means Baci’s record-breaking preparation of Nigerian-style jollof rice also qualifies as the largest serving of rice overall, beyond its original category.

The chef announced the development on Tuesday via Instagram, updating her profile to read “Chef X3 Guinness World Record Holder.”

Sharing her excitement, Baci described the moment as both surreal and overwhelming. According to her, she only discovered the new recognition after receiving an official email from Guinness World Records, months after the initial record announcement.
In the email signed by Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering at Guinness World Records, the organisation explained that a review of record guidelines showed her attempt had simultaneously broken two records.
The message congratulated her for achieving both the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice and the largest serving of rice in general during the same feat.

Reacting, Baci said she was completely caught off guard. She explained that what she initially believed was a single Guinness World Record had quietly translated into two records achieved on the same day, bringing her total to three.
The September 2025 feat took place at a Lagos cookout, where Baci prepared 8,780 kilograms of jollof rice — officially recognised as the largest pot of the dish ever made anywhere in the world.
The achievement marked her second Guinness World Record, following her first in May 2023, when she completed a 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon.
Baci credited her success to teamwork and collaboration, singling out key members of her crew for their dedication from concept to execution. She noted that the scale and precision of the project would not have been possible without their shared commitment.

She also expressed gratitude to God, describing the unexpected recognition as a reminder that greater rewards can emerge even after one believes the journey is complete.
Baci concluded by thanking Guinness World Records, her team and supporters, describing the moment as a collective victory.
With this latest recognition, she further cements her place as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished chefs, while amplifying the global visibility of Nigerian cuisine.
