Ekohotblog reports that Pobo Market in Poka, Eredo LCDA, has received a much-needed upgrade, from Hon. Ogunkelu Oluwadahunsi Sketel, the lawmaker representing Epe Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
He has delivered a new public toilet, a borehole for clean water, and five industrial solar lights for the market.
For a long time, the traders at Pobo Market struggled with poor sanitation and insecurity due to the lack of facilities.
Market leaders voiced their concerns, and Hon. Sketel stepped in to help. Today, these projects have been completed and are now in use by the community.
“I promised to solve these problems, and I’m happy that the work is done. The new facilities will help keep the market clean and make it safer at night,” said Hon. Sketel to the market traders.
“The public toilet will provide a clean and safe space for traders and visitors. The borehole will ensure a steady supply of fresh water, while the solar lights will improve security and allow business activities to continue even after dark”.
Traders have expressed their gratitude and relief. “This is a huge blessing for us. We used to have a hard time because there were no good toilets or water. But now, everything has changed. We are so thankful to Hon. Sketel,” said Mrs. Basirat Adedeji, a trader at the market.
The market men and women celebrated the completion of the project and praised Hon. Sketel for keeping his promise.
“We feel safer now with the new lights, and having a proper toilet and water supply makes a big difference. This is something we’ve been hoping for,” said Mr. Musa, another trader.
Hon. Sketel has assured the community that he will continue to work on projects that directly improve the lives of the people. “This is just the beginning. I want to keep supporting my people and making sure they have what they need,” he said.
The successful completion of this project shows Hon. Sketel’s dedication to meeting the needs of his constituents and his commitment to delivering practical solutions that positively impact the community.
