- Suspect says he masterminded his father’s kidnap for N200,000
- The suspect is reported to be at odds with his 60-year-old father, Alhaji Isah Maigora, claimed he collaborated with two other members to commit the crime.
Ekohotblog reports that one Hamza Isah, 25, from Rinjin Gora village, in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State has confessed that he aided and abetted bandits to kidnap his father from his Rinjin Gora residence to be rewarded with the sum of N200,000.
Hamza, who is reported to be at odds with his 60-year-old father, Alhaji Isah Maigora, claimed he collaborated with two other members of the community, both of whom are presently under police investigation, to abduct his father, who is still in captivity at an unidentified location.
Superintendent Isah Gambo, the State Police Public Relations Officer, presented the culprit and his alleged accomplices before pressmen at the State Police Command on Friday.
“I have issues with my Dad. So, I went to Auwal Magaji to help me with fertiliser. He promised to help me not just with fertiliser but with lots of money if I could help them to kidnap my father.
“Instantly, he gave me N20,000 and promised to give me N200,000 when my father is kidnapped and ransom is paid.
“I told them that it will be difficult to kidnap my father as our compound is well fortified. But they told me not to worry and gave me six different charms to bury in the compound which I did. Three days later, they came into our compound and kidnapped my father.
“I decided to spill the bean because after my father was kidnapped, I went to Auwalu Magaji that I want to return the money he gave me and he threatened that my life would be in danger if I dare tell anyone but when they brought me to the command and I was suffering, I decided to reveal everything,” Hamza said
Buhari Isah, the suspect’s eldest brother, grew skeptical of his brother’s remarks after their father was taken, according to SP. Gambo.
He said that his younger brother, Hamza, was talking about having a lot of money very soon.
This prompted him to request that the police investigate the matter, and during interrogation, the suspect confessed to masterminding the father’s abduction after being enticed with an initial N20,000 gift and charms by an elderly man from the community, as well as the promise of a handsome reward if the operation was successful.
“However, the two alleged accomplice denied having any knowledge of the incident as investigation is ongoing,” Gambo said.
