“I Didn’t Enjoy My Childhood” – Oluwadolarz Opens Up About Early Struggles

Nigerian singer and content creator Oluwadolarz has shared insights into his challenging childhood.

In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwu on the ‘WithChude’ podcast, Oluwadolarz revealed that he began shouldering responsibilities for his family at the tender age of 11.

He shared that his father passed away when he was just two years old, leaving his stepfather to provide support until his death in 2015.

Reflecting on his early experiences, Oluwadolarz noted that the loss of his father forced him to mature quickly.

Discussing his journey in the music industry, he admitted that his initial efforts did not gain traction and that he faced significant setbacks, particularly after a rape allegation against him led to job losses.

He recounted, “I once worked at Ebute Metta as a truck loader for Dangote Cement, handling pasta. Losing my father at such a young age was difficult, and while my stepdad supported us, he also passed away in 2015.

“I didn’t enjoy my childhood; I became an adult at 11, constantly worrying about what my family would eat. I started my music career in 2008, but it didn’t take off.

After the rape allegation, I lost many opportunities, which led to a period of depression, especially as I had just welcomed my child. I found myself in debt as people demanded repayment, unwilling to associate with my brand anymore.”
