Eko hot blog reports that In a recent turn of events, Nigerian artist Tekno, also known as Kelechi Austin Miles, has come forward to deny reports suggesting he received royalties worth N1 billion from his collaboration with fellow musician Kizz Daniel on the track ‘Buga’.
The controversy stemmed from a blog post on Budget TV, alleging that Tekno had revealed to them receiving 50 per cent of the revenues generated by ‘Buga’ every month from Kizz Daniel.
The blog further claimed that Tekno stated he had already received nearly a billion Naira in royalties for the song.
According to the blog, Tekno was quoted saying, “I got on Kizz Daniel’s Buga with no sort of legal agreement.
I wasn’t expecting anything from him, Wanted to be silent about this but I think some levels of gratitude deserve to be spoken of, Do y’all know Kizz Daniel sends me 50% of every revenue he generates from that song? After his buga tour he sent me close to a Billion Naira and I was already shocked enough by that move.
He didn’t end just there. Every month I receive millions as my own share of the revenue generated by Buga on streaming platforms… Kizz is a great guy I can’t lie ~ Tekno Reveals’.”
However, Tekno has refuted these claims, labeling the interview as “fake”.
Taking to his social media handle, he addressed the issue, stating, “Him money no reach.
Anybody wey put out that fake interview, thunder fire your mama. #Talkingshit.”
This denial from Tekno has added a new layer to the ongoing conversation surrounding the alleged royalties from ‘Buga’, leaving fans and followers curious about the true nature of the financial arrangement between the two artists.
