Oriyomi Hamzat, the CEO of Agidigbo FM, has regained his freedom after meeting the bail conditions set by the Oyo State High Court.

The trio is facing trial for their alleged involvement in the tragic stampede that occurred at a funfair in Ibadan last December, which claimed the lives of over 30 people, most of whom were children.

The incident has drawn significant public attention, and the accused have been charged with conspiracy, negligence causing harm, and failing to provide adequate security and medical facilities during the event.

Following the court ruling, a video posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday showed Hamzat surrounded by an excited crowd as he was released.

In the video, Hamzat expressed his gratitude to his supporters, saying, “Oriyomi is back! I’m in a time of reflection, so I’ll remain silent for now. Thank you very much; I’m truly grateful. You may take your leave.”

Prior to his release, Hamzat and the other defendants had been remanded at Agodi Correctional Centre.

The case has continued to progress through the legal system, with the Chief Magistrate, Olabisi Ogunkanmi, stating that the magistrate court lacked the jurisdiction to handle the matter.
