Ibeju-Lekki Local Government played host to youth leaders and security stakeholders across Lagos State, particularly from the Epe Division, during the Police Youth Dialogue held at the Local Government Secretariat Multipurpose Hall.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the event themed “The Power of Partnership: Cultivating Trust and Understanding Between Youth and Law Enforcement Agencies,” this year’s dialogue focused on fostering collaboration, mutual respect, and open communication between young people and security operatives to enhance community peace and security.

In his welcome address, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and Chairman, Conference 57 of Chairmen in Lagos State, Hon. Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, expressed joy in hosting the impactful event.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth inclusion and peaceful coexistence.
“As a youth-friendly leader, I believe that when young people and law enforcement officers work hand in hand, our society becomes safer and stronger,” Hon. Olowa said.
“I encourage our youths to remain law-abiding and serve as worthy ambassadors of their communities and the nation at large.”

Also speaking at the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Abubakre Mobolaji Ogunlende, commended the enthusiasm and dedication of Lagos youths in driving positive change across the state.
“Our youths are the backbone of a greater Lagos. Their passion and resilience align perfectly with Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda,” he stated.
The dialogue featured interactive sessions, panel discussions, and open engagements between youths and law enforcement representatives, allowing for honest conversations on policing, civic responsibility, and trust-building.
The event was well attended by officials from various law enforcement agencies, youth organizations, traditional leaders, and community stakeholders — all committed to promoting peace, security, and partnership between the people and the police.
Special recognition was given to the Governor of Lagos State, for his continuous support of youth-focused initiatives.
The dialogue concept, originally conceived by Amb. Olalekan Biliaminu Oba after the 2020 EndSARS protests, continues to serve as a platform for rebuilding trust between the youth and security agencies.
