The President had given a directive to security chiefs to restore peace after a deadly attack over the weekend in Yelewata. In this border community, several lives were lost in a suspected herdsmen assault.
At a meeting with Governor Hyacinth Alia in Makurdi on Monday, Egbetokun expressed the President’s deep concern over the killings, noting that such violence threatens national security and sovereignty.
On his part, Governor Alia appreciated the President and security forces for their swift response but stressed the need for sustainable strategies to protect vulnerable communities.

He also echoed Tinubu’s call for reconciliation and dialogue between farmers, herders, and local communities.
The IGP later visited Yelewata to assess the situation firsthand and chart immediate steps toward ending the bloodshed.
