Hon. Alex Ikwechegh, representing Aba North and Aba South in the House of Representatives, has promised a full response to allegations circulating on social media that he assaulted a Bolt driver, Stephen Abuwatseye, who had delivered a package to him.

Speaking to Vanguard on Monday night, Ikwechegh acknowledged receiving numerous calls from across Nigeria about a viral video in which Abuwatseye claims the lawmaker threatened and assaulted him. The lawmaker assured that he will provide a comprehensive response on Tuesday addressing the incident.

The controversy began after a video surfaced showing Ikwechegh allegedly slapping and verbally insulting the driver at his residence in Maitama, Abuja. In the footage, Ikwechegh is heard chastising the driver, claiming it was disrespectful to be asked to come outside to collect a delivery of snails.

The video also shows him making remarks about his social status and allegedly threatening to “make the driver disappear” without consequences.
