The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), has directed staff in Anambra State to ensure seamless logistics and early commencement of voting during the November 8 governorship election.
Eko Hot Blog reports that speaking during a meeting with INEC officials at the commission’s office in Awka on Monday, Amupitan stressed that voting must begin by 8:30 a.m. across all 5,718 polling units in the state’s 21 local government areas.

He described the meeting as a “family gathering” and reminded staff that the credibility of the election depends on their professionalism and commitment.
The chairman, whose visit coincided with the signing of a peace accord by political parties, emphasised that all election materials must leave their centres by 6:00 a.m. on election day.

“There must not be a logistics failure. The eyes of the world are on INEC,” he warned, adding that any official who compromises the process would face sanctions.
Amupitan also announced that over 45,000 police officers and other security operatives will be deployed to maintain order during the election.
He urged staff to report challenges promptly and ensure transparency in result collation, especially with Form EC8A, which he described as “the pyramid of votes in Nigeria.”

Expressing concern over low voter turnout in previous polls, Amupitan called for renewed efforts to mobilise citizens, including persons with disabilities, to participate.
He further pledged to reward top-performing local governments and sanction those that fall short.
“Anambra is a test of our integrity. Let us show Nigerians that INEC can deliver a credible, peaceful, and transparent election,” he concluded.
