The electoral umpire had earlier concluded the first phase of the CVR on December 10, 2025, following several months of online and physical registration activities nationwide.

INEC initially introduced the online pre-registration portal on August 18, 2025, before deploying physical registration teams to designated centres from August 25, 2025, allowing eligible Nigerians to either begin or complete their enrolment.
Data released by the commission in December revealed that nearly 10 million Nigerians—9,891,801 to be precise—initiated the online pre-registration process during the first phase of the exercise.
Out of this number, INEC disclosed that 2,572,054 registrations were successfully concluded nationwide as of November 28, 2025, with 1,503,832 completed online and 1,068,222 finalised through physical registration centres.
The commission explained that the interval between the first and second phases was utilised for mandatory legal procedures, including the display of the preliminary voters’ register for public scrutiny.
INEC noted that in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2022, the voters’ register was displayed at local government offices from December 15 to 21, 2025, to allow for claims, corrections, and objections by members of the public.

With the resumption now in effect, INEC has urged Nigerians who have attained voting age and are yet to register to take advantage of the opportunity to enrol, transfer their polling units, or update personal details.
The commission also advised individuals who registered during the first phase to verify their information and report any inaccuracies, while encouraging the public to raise objections against the inclusion of deceased or ineligible persons.
Meanwhile, INEC clarified that the CVR exercise remains temporarily suspended in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory due to ongoing electoral activities, adding that new timelines for those areas will be communicated later.
