EKO HOT BLOG reports that a prison official, who spoke to SaharaReporters on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident, saying, “There has been a jailbreak in Keffi Prison and 14 prisoners escaped.”
As of press time, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Umar Abubakar, had yet to release an official statement on the matter.
Security agencies are reportedly on alert to track down the escaped inmates.
This latest incident comes nearly six years after a similar episode at the same facility. On August 15, 2019, no fewer than 50 inmates reportedly attempted a mass escape, citing inadequate food and poor medical care as reasons for their protest.

That event raised serious questions about the conditions in Nigerian correctional facilities, many of which continue to face challenges such as overcrowding, insufficient welfare, and poor infrastructure.
The escape has once again put the spotlight on prison security and management across the country, with observers calling for urgent reforms to prevent recurring incidents.
Authorities are expected to issue further updates as investigations progress and efforts to recapture the fugitives intensify.
