‘You Are Becoming A General In Politics’ – Jonathan Hails Fubara

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has urged Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to remain steadfast despite the political challenges confronting his administration.

Addressing the ongoing tensions between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Jonathan described the challenges as opportunities for growth, likening them to battles that prepare one to become a “General” in politics.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Speaking on Sunday during a chieftaincy installation ceremony in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, Jonathan emphasized that challenges are an inevitable part of leadership.

He encouraged Governor Fubara to remain committed to serving the people of Rivers State while appealing to residents to continue supporting their governor.

“I know you are passing through challenges, and at occasions like these, I prefer to stay quiet. But let me say this: nobody becomes a General without fighting wars. Whatever challenges you face now are shaping you into a stronger leader.

With the commitment I see in you and the support from the people of Rivers, God will see you through,” Jonathan said.

The former president also called for peace in Rivers State, stressing its importance to the Niger Delta region and the nation’s economy. He urged all stakeholders to prioritize stability, warning that unrest in Rivers could disrupt the entire region.

“We need a peaceful Rivers State because it is the heart of the Niger Delta. Any crisis here affects the region and the country’s economy. Let us maintain peace and allow the governor to focus on his duties,” he added.
