Earlier in March, President Tinubu introduced a bill titled: ‘A Bill for an Act to prescribe the salaries, allowances, and fringe benefits of Judicial Office Holders in Nigeria and for related matters.’ This bill, which aimed to amend the salaries of judicial officers, was sent to the House of Representatives for consideration.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the National Assembly approved the bill in June, granting a 300 per cent salary increase for judicial officers at both federal and state levels.

Lado emphasized that this significant move highlights President Tinubu’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Nigerian workers. He drew a parallel to a recent instance where the President paused a Federal Executive Council meeting to sign the new National Minimum Wage Bill of N70,000 into law.
The new Act prescribes updated salaries, allowances, and benefits for judicial officers to reflect current realities. It also amends the Certain Political, Public, and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc.), Act, No.6, 2002 (as amended), by removing provisions related to judicial office holders from the Act.
Lado lauded the President’s signing of the bill as a landmark achievement, describing it as a testament to Tinubu’s dedication to improving conditions for Nigeria’s workforce. He praised the President’s visionary leadership and commitment to ensuring fair compensation for those serving in vital and strategic roles, particularly in the judiciary.

“This landmark decision reflects Mr. President’s profound dedication to ensuring that every salary earner in Nigeria, especially those serving in vital and strategic roles, receives the recognition and compensation they deserve,” Lado stated.
He further noted that by prioritizing the financial well-being of judicial officers, President Tinubu is reinforcing the integrity of the justice system and setting a new standard for leadership that values the hard work and sacrifices of all Nigerian workers.
Lado also commended Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Rt. Hon. Abass Tajudeen, and the 10th National Assembly for their role in passing the bill. He urged judicial office holders to enhance their efforts in delivering swift justice, emphasizing that the judiciary remains the hope of the common man and that Nigerians seeking justice should receive it regardless of their status.
