The Federal Government, in collaboration with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), has launched the Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF) to provide 0% interest loans of up to ₦10 million for academic and non-academic staff across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.

Eko Hot Blog gathered that the scheme unveiled today at the TETFund Auditorium, Abuja, aims to boost staff welfare, career growth, and financial stability.

Beneficiaries confirmed full-time staff with at least five years to retirement can use the loans for medical expenses, accommodation, transport, agricultural ventures, SMEs, or professional development.
Education Minister described TISSF as “not just welfare, but empowerment”, projecting a 42% morale boost and 24% improvement in staff retention. Loan repayment will be through monthly salary deductions via institutional bursaries.
