- Heavy rainfall has killed one person and rendered many homeless in Ondo State.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that tragedy struck in Ikare-Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State as a heavy downpour killed a resident and rendered many homeless.
It was gathered that the heavy downpour which lasted about 40 minutes rendered many homeless as the rainstorm destroyed houses.
Areas affected by the downpour include Ilepa, Okela, and part of Okoja quarters in the ancient town.
The deceased, identified simply as ‘Ayepareti’, was said to have lost his life while taking a cover from the rain at a house at Okela when the tragic incident occurred.
The building, it was gathered, collapsed on the late popular butcher before he was rushed to hospital where he was confirmed dead.
As gathered by EKOHOTBLOG, the incident was confirmed by a community leader, Ibrahim Kilani, noting that the heavy downpour, which started around 7pm, was accompanied by heavy hailstones.
On his part, the Chairman of Ikare Akoko Elders Forum, Elder James Oladetohun who sympathized with the victims called on the government to come to their aid.
