JUST IN: Kwara Governor Renames State Owned College (PHOTO)

AbdulRazaq has renamed the College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies

 

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Kwara Government has renamed the state owned College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS), Ilorin, to College of Arabic, Islamic, Legal and Management Studies (CAILMS).

This is contained in a statement issued by AbdulLateef Yahaya, the Deputy Registrar (Information), of the college on Wednesday in Ilorin.

Yahaya said that the state Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr Afeez Alabi, disclosed this during a familiarisation visit to the college.

 

He said that the change of name was for the need to expand the scope of the institution courses and enhance the objective for the benefits of the entire people of the state.

 

“The Commissioner reiterated the commitment of government to improve the general quality of education in the state and the status of CAILMS to a degree awarding institution.

 

“He therefore promised to present the request for the sum of N26 million required for the completion of the accreditation of degree courses of the college without further delay.

 

Dr Alabi assured that government will assist in the reconstruction of road network and other infrastructural development in the college,” he said.

 

The Chairman, Governing Council of the institution, Prof. Badmas Yusuf, appealed to Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to assist the college with physical structures and fund needed.

 

Yusuf said that the money would be used for the completion of the college accreditation requirements for the six degree programmes in affiliation with the University of Ilorin.

 

He explained further that the college, which was established in 1992 by the state government, aimed at providing solutions to problems of middle level manpower and create more windows to acquisition of tertiary education.

 

According to him, particularly for those who desire to study Arabic, Islamic Legal System, and other social science courses as part of efforts to meet the aspiration of the indigenes.

 

The Chairman urged the state government to give priority attention to the construction of intra-road network and more infrastructural development to enable the college achieve more successes.

 

He thanked the commissioner for the visit, hoping that it will result to more positive change in the history of the college.
