JUST IN: Officer Injured As Hoodlums Attack Police Checkpoint In Ogun
An officer has been injured as hoodlums attacked a police checkpoint in Ogun State.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that police officers at a checkpoint along Obasanjo-Itele road, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State have been attacked by some suspected hoodlums.
The hoodlums were said to have attacked the officers while on duty at about 3:11am on Sunday.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that the attacked police team was led by one ASP Nasiru Azeez, Inspector Olabisi Lawrence, and Inspector Atari Friday.
A reliable source disclosed on Tuesday that the Inspector sustained an injury on his head as the hoodlums also snatched his AK-47 rifle and made away with it.
It was gathered that the AK-47 rifle with Breach No. 804611, was “carted away with 30 rounds of live ammunition”.
While the injured police officer was taken to the State Hospital, Ota for treatment, the Police Command was said to be making efforts to recover the lost rifle.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, when contacted, neither denied nor confirmed the incident.
The police spokespersob asked our correspondent to call back, but he did not answer several other calls put across to his phone since Monday.
