The attack, which occurred on Thursday, March 14, 2024, resulted in the loss of a commanding officer, two majors, one captain, 12 soldiers, and one civilian. Shockingly, the bodies of the deceased were reportedly concealed by the assailants.
Expressing deep condolences to the families affected by the tragedy, Adeyanju lamented the loss of these brave individuals who were committed to serving their country and promoting peace in the Okuama community. He emphasized the valor and sacrifice demonstrated by the fallen soldiers and called for their memories to be honored.
In the wake of the ambush, tensions in the region have escalated, with reports of local youths allegedly holding an Okoloba native, Mr. Anthony Aboh, hostage in retaliation.
