EKO HOT BLOG reports that Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna on Friday, the Assistant National Secretary of the SDP (North-West), Idris Inuwa, clarified that El-Rufai has not officially joined the party and must follow due process if he wishes to do so.
“It has come to our notice that certain individuals, including Mal. Nasir El-Rufai, are being rumored to have joined the SDP. However, neither the Chairman of the Kaduna North Local Government Chapter nor the leadership of Unguwar Sarki ward has any record of these memberships,” Inuwa stated.
He further emphasized that El-Rufai and his associates are not recognized members of the SDP in Kaduna State and urged them to adhere to the party’s official registration process.
Inuwa also addressed the alleged dissolution of the Kaduna SDP State Working Committee, as contained in a letter from the party’s National Secretariat dated February 25, 2025. He dismissed the letter as invalid, pointing out that it lacked a reference number, tracking identity, and an official correspondence address.
“We state unequivocally that the action contained in the letter is an exercise in futility and of no consequential effect whatsoever,” he declared.
According to Inuwa, the Kaduna State Executive Committee emerged from a duly conducted state congress and holds a four-year mandate that remains binding. He warned that any attempt to dissolve the legitimate leadership of the party in the state would be unconstitutional and a violation of internal democratic principles.
“This, therefore, underscores the nullity of the purported setting up of a caretaker committee under one individual,” he added.
Inuwa called on the SDP National Secretariat to immediately withdraw the letter dissolving the Kaduna State Working Committee. He warned that failure to do so would force the state chapter to seek redress through legal channels.
