EKO HOT BLOG reports that in order to keep the peace before, during, and after the appeal court’s decision on the gubernatorial election, the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) signed a peace treaty with the Kano State Police Command.
This online media platform had previously reported that the appeal court in Abuja was scheduled to rule on Friday in the state governorship case.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday at the Police Command Headquarters in Bompai, the state’s commissioner of police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, stated that the Force has developed strategies to advance harmony and peace in the state before, during, and following the ruling.
Along with other chiefs of security agencies, Gumel continued, saying that all security measures to maintain calm had been completed by the command.
Vice Chairman of the NNPP Wada Ibrahim and Secretary of the APC Ibrahim Sarina represented the two political parties at the meeting.
“Both parties have agreed on ensuring that peace and calmness are sustained before, during and after the declaration of the Appeal Court judgement. We have also received assurances from the two political party’s leaders that they will pass the message down to their followers and loyalists,” Gumel said.
