The Kano State Hisbah Board confirmed on Friday the arrest and detention of Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Jigawa Commissioner of Special Duties, for allegedly engaging in an affair with a married woman, Tasleem Baba Nabegu.

According to the Hisbah, a Sharia police force, Sankara was caught in the act with the married woman in an uncompleted building he owns.

Hisbah Director General Abba Sufi stated that Sankara’s arrest resulted from intelligence tracking after receiving multiple complaints about his “nefarious acts” involving the woman, as reported by her husband’s younger brother.

“Yes, it is true that we have arrested Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Jigawa Commissioner, with a married woman in an uncompleted building that belongs to him. Unknown to him, we were tracking him based on reports we received against him,” the Hisbah DG confirmed.

According to Hisbah, Sankara is scheduled to be prosecuted on Monday in a court of law.

The arrest was initiated after Nasiru Bulama, the woman’s husband, filed a complaint, accusing Sankara of having an illicit affair with his wife, Tasleem Baba Nabegu, who is the mother of his two children.
