Member representing Epe Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Wale Raji has called for peaceful co-existence amongst the fragmented sub-divisions that make up the Division.
The lawmaker was speaking during the curtain closer of the 2021 edition of the event which featured a dramatic chronicle of the trials and adventure of the divine voyager, King Kosoko, whose journey to Epe set off a chain reaction that ultimately culminates to the modern day Epe town.
Addressing the gathering, Hon Wale Raji commended the initiative by the committee to cast a wide net that allowed Epe indigenes both at home in the diaspora to play a contributory role in bringing the iconic festival to fruition.
“I commend the innovation introduced in this year’s celebrations. Before now, whenever Kayokayo is to be celebrated, two or three politicians would be targeted for funding. But it is different this year as funds from both the rich and the poor. I was really happy that the innovative idea raised about 9 million Naira and this shows if we all come together as one, we will achieve a lot of progress, growth and development.”
“One other thing I will emphasise is the need for unity in this town, it is important, and that was displayed by the Kayokayo committee members as they were able to carry along the Oloja of Epe, HRM Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun, with their plans. Kayokayo is supposed to be a collective celebration, I have it on record that for 2 consecutive years, the Oloja and his chiefs celebrated the festival at Popo-Oba square. We resolved then that the Eebi festival will also involve the contributions of the Olu-Epe and his Chiefs with the Chairman, a tourism enthusiast, who has a lot of roles to play,” Wale Raji Said.
