Kidnapped Ondo Maths Professor Dies In Captive

Professor Gideon Okedayo who was kidnapped has died in captive.

ASUU said that it was saddened by his death.

The decomposing body of Gideon Okedayo,a professor in the department of mathematics, Ondo university of science and technology, ondo state has been found in the bush, where he was captured by his abductors.

Okedayo and his driver were said to have been kidnapped by the gunmen on their way to Igara in Edo State, but the driver was later released after which he reported to the police.

The Edo State Police Command had earlier announced that it had recovered Okedayo’s official vehicle, a Toyota Corolla car with registration number, 06X47OD, few hours after he was kidnapped.

According to the Chairman, Joint Action Committee of Staff Unions of the Osustech, Temidayo Temola on Tuesday told our correspondent that the incident saddened all members of staff of the university.

He said, ” In fact the death of Prof. Okedayo is a big loss to this institution, we will really miss him.” Similarly, the Chairman of the OSUSTECH branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Dipo Akomolafe, said, “His decomposing body was found in the bush.

This is so sad to ASUU and his family members because the kidnappers never called anybody, whether ASUU or Okedayo’s family for ransom.”
