Manchester City are now just 90 minutes away from defending their Premier League title, after battling to 1-0 win over Leicester City in their last fixture at the Etihad this season.
Pep Guardiola’s men came into the game on Monday, knowing that anything but victory would mean their destiny was no longer in their hands after Liverpool defeated Newcastle on Saturday.
The first half ended goalless, sending tension throughout the stadium before captain Vincent Kompany unleashed an unstoppable effort to seal all three points.
The result keeps Guardiola’s men top of the table with 95 points while Liverpool have 94 with only a match left for each to play this season.
City will now travel to Brighton for their final game of the season while Liverpool welcomes Wolverhampton Wanderers to Anfield.
