EKO HOT BLOG reports that he wrote, “Today, I joined leaders of the African Democratic Congress and other committed democrats at a world press conference to strongly condemn the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s brazen and unacceptable partisanship.
“I fully endorse the position of the gathering: In 2027, Nigerians must be allowed to freely choose their leaders from a diverse range of political parties.
“The electoral umpire has no right to impose a single candidacy on Africa’s largest and most vibrant democracy.”
Meanwhile, a former aide to ex-Kano State governor Abdullahi Ganduje, Salihu Yakasai, has claimed that leaders of the All Progressives Congress, including President Bola Tinubu, are unsettled by Kwankwaso’s defection to the ADC.
Yakasai made the claim during an interview, stating that the political impact of Kwankwaso’s move is already being felt.
“I don’t think it is going to change anything; it has already changed the narrative. It is not just the state that is jittery, but also the national leadership, including the president himself,” he said.
He added that recent political engagements and actions by key stakeholders indicate that the defection has created tension at both the state and national levels.

Yakasai cited a meeting between Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and various political groups in Kano as part of the ongoing political realignments.
The developments come amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
