Contrary to widespread condemnation of the emergency rule declaration, Ladoja believes that President Tinubu had valid reasons for his decision.
The emergency rule was imposed to curb political tensions arising from the conflict between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the incumbent Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Tinubu implemented a six-month emergency rule, during which Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the House of Assembly have been suspended.
Former Naval Chief Ibok Ibas has been appointed as the Administrator of the state during this period.
Ladoja advised Minister of the Wike and Governor Fubara to engage in dialogue and seek common ground while the emergency rule is in place
“The state of emergency in Rivers State is not a threat to democracy at all. The President has his reasons for taking this step. It serves as a warning to other governors to govern responsibly.
“Now, there is relative peace in Rivers State, and I believe everything will stabilize within the next six months.”
