The Lagos State Government has introduced a temporary traffic diversion following the commencement of reconstruction work at the Anthony Village Bus Stop.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, announced the development in a statement posted on his X account on Tuesday.
According to the commissioner, excavation has begun on the affected section of the road to address recurring damage caused by heavy rainfall.
He explained that the reconstruction would involve the use of interlocking stones to strengthen the road and improve its resilience against future weather-related deterioration.
Osiyemi said the project is designed to provide a permanent solution to the section of the road that has repeatedly failed due to persistent flooding and erosion.
To ensure the work is carried out safely, the state government has implemented temporary traffic arrangements for motorists using the corridor.
Under the diversion plan, drivers travelling from Fadeyi towards the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway through Anthony Village will not be able to access the route until the project is completed.
Motorists intending to use the Anthony Village Bus Stop service lane to connect to Oshodi have also been advised to remain on the expressway and join their destination through alternative connecting roads ahead.
In addition, motorists approaching from Oshodi and heading to Anthony–Ikorodu Road via Anthony Village have been informed that the road is currently closed at the construction site.
The Ministry of Transportation urged commuters and motorists to plan their trips ahead, avoid the affected routes where possible and make use of alternative roads to reduce traffic congestion.
The government appealed for public understanding and cooperation, assuring residents that the temporary inconvenience is necessary to complete the reconstruction and improve road conditions in the area.
