Lagos govt postpones model school entrance exam
The Lagos State Ministry of Education, on Monday, announced that it has postponed the Basic Education Certificate Examination, which is a screening for admission to the state’s Model Colleges and Upgraded Schools.
The examination board had earlier slated the 2019 Computer-Based Test for June 3.
A statement by the Deputy Director, Public Affairs of the state’s Examination Board, Mr Adesegun Ogundeji, announced the postponement on Monday.
According to the statement, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mrs Adebunmi Adekanye, said the inability of many schools and private individuals to adhere to the dictates of the new e-registration system adopted by the board led to the postponement.
The statement reads, “The examinations board has replaced the manual registration with e-registration to further frustrate the activities of middlemen who have been extorting money from unsuspecting parents or guardians. There is a need to clean up the data with a view to bringing every candidate on board thus necessitating the shift.”
Adekanye said a new date would be communicated later.
