Lagos Intensifies Efforts To Combat Noise Pollution And Promote Quiet Living

Eko Hot Blog reports that in a concerted effort to tackle the pervasive issue of noise pollution, the Lagos State Government has reinforced its dedication to the “Noiseless Lagos” advocacy program.

This initiative aims to raise public awareness about the adverse impacts of excessive noise on human health and the necessity of adhering to government regulations.

During the Year 2024 Annual Noiseless Lagos Awareness Campaign, organized by LASEPA, the agency’s General Manager, Dr. Tunde Ajayi, emphasized the state’s unwavering commitment to addressing noise pollution.

“The State Government is unwavering committed to addressing the menace of noise pollution and its adverse effects on the health of the citizenry,” Ajayi stated.

Moreover, he stressed the urgency of collective action to identify and eliminate sources of noise pollution, highlighting its detrimental effects on public health and societal growth.

“We must work together to address this pressing issue to safeguard the health of our communities,” remarked Dr. Olusegun Ogboye, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos Ministry of Health.

The campaign, themed “Hearing Deficit: Time to Take Action,” was designed to draw public attention to the harmful effects of noise on human health.

Furthermore, free hearing tests were conducted by professional audiologists hired by LASEPA to assist individuals with hearing issues.

In addition to raising awareness, LASEPA reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing existing regulations, implementing innovative strategies, and collaborating with stakeholders across various sectors to reduce noise pollution to acceptable standards.
