Lagos State Partners with Epe Local Government to Launch Community-Wide Vaccination Campaign

Ekohotblog reports that Lagos State Health District III has teamed up with Epe Local Government to spread the word about an upcoming vaccination campaign.

The meeting was held at the Epe Local Government Secretariat, where important community leaders gathered to talk about vaccines for yellow fever, measles, human papillomavirus (HPV), and polio.

Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, the Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Health District III, led the session. She explained why vaccines are so important in stopping the spread of diseases and keeping people healthy.

 

“Vaccines don’t just protect you; they protect everyone around you,” Dr. Adeleke said. “When you get vaccinated, you are helping to keep your family, friends, and community safe. We need everyone to be informed and take part in this vaccination campaign.”

 

The campaign will run from October 19th to November 2nd, 2024. Dr. Adeleke asked all the leaders at the meeting to help spread the word and make sure everyone gets vaccinated.

 

“We need your help to make this campaign a success. Let’s ensure that everyone in Epe gets vaccinated and stays healthy,” she added.

 

Important people at the meeting included Rev. Bamgbade John from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Dr. Adenike Oguntuase, the Director of Medical Services and Disease Control,Hon saico, Alhaja Adeola Giwa, the Iyaloja of Oluwa Market and other high chiefs, schools owner and other prominent figures.

 

Rev. Bamgbade in an interview promised to encourage people in the Christian community to get vaccinated. He said, “As religious leaders, we care about both the spiritual and physical well-being of our people. We will make sure our members understand why vaccination is important.”

 

Mrs. Oladunjoye Stella, who represented the Chairman of Eredo LCDA, also said that traditional leaders play a key role in sharing the right information. “People trust us. If we explain the benefits of vaccines, they will listen. We are ready to support this campaign,” she said.

Dr. Oguntuase ended the meeting by asking everyone to work together. “This campaign is for the health of our children and our community. Let’s make sure no one misses out on getting vaccinated and staying safe from preventable diseases. Together, we can make a difference,” she said.

 

With the support of these leaders, the vaccination campaign in Epe will soon begin, aiming to protect everyone and create a healthier community.
