According to Edwards, elders and local government chairmen of the party convened a stakeholder meeting to review the outcome of the PDP National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja last week.
He stated that members who openly pledged their support to the ADC have been formally expelled from the PDP with immediate effect.
The stakeholders also issued directives to all local government party chairmen to begin preparations for the upcoming party congresses scheduled to hold from September to November, covering all levels from local government to the national convention.

At the meeting, the party’s elders and local government chairmen condemned the actions of the defecting members, stating that openly supporting another political party while still being in the PDP violated the party’s core principles and loyalty expectations.
A motion for the expulsion of the affected members was moved during the session, and the elders unanimously voted in favor of their removal from the party.
