EKO HOT BLOG reports that the ward leadership announced the suspension after Dagogo approached the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to halt the APC’s planned convention.
Dagogo had alleged that he was unfairly excluded from contesting the position of National Vice Chairman South South despite paying ₦5.1 million for the nomination form. He claimed that after making the payment, the party failed to issue him the form.
In the suit, he asked the court to suspend the South South zonal congress, declare him eligible to contest the position, nullify any election conducted without his participation and award him ₦100 million in damages.
However, the Ward 4 executive committee in Bonny said his action amounted to gross misconduct and anti party activities.
The decision was conveyed by the ward chairman, Richard Ibani, who said the resolution followed a meeting of the committee held on March 16.
The resolution was also signed by the Ward Secretary, Donald Jumbo, alongside 21 other members of the committee.
According to the ward leadership, Dagogo’s suspension is indefinite and based on alleged violations of the party’s constitution.
The statement accused him of breaching the APC Constitution, engaging in anti party activities and making statements capable of embarrassing the party.
The ward executive committee said the alleged offences contravened Article 21.2 I, II and VII of the APC Constitution 2022 as amended.
Ward Leaders Accuse Him Of Disregarding Party Rules
Part of the statement read, “The ward exco has always advised its members to desist from actions capable of ridiculing our party, but your recent actions have shown that you are not willing to respect and abide by the constitution and actions of our great party.”
The statement added that the suspension takes immediate effect.
“Your suspension is effective immediately, and we ask the state secretariat to endorse our resolution with the necessary actions,” the ward leaders stated.
