EKO HOT BLOG reports that Akinajo revealed that Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu would lead the inauguration, accompanied by his executive council and other dignitaries, and participate in the first paid passenger trip.
The Red Line is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion by transporting between 100,000 and 150,000 passengers daily, complementing the Blue Line.
Passenger services will begin from Agbado at 6 am daily, with a revised schedule to accommodate increased ridership from key areas like Ikeja, Oshodi, and Lagos Island. Akinajo emphasized that buses will be available at the Oyingbo terminal for passengers heading to Lagos Island, ensuring seamless connectivity.
The new timetable was developed based on data from recent test runs with non-paying passengers, ensuring a smoother and more efficient service when commercial operations begin.
