The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has urged members of the public to report and register the names of relatives or loved ones who may be missing following the fire outbreak at the Great Nigeria Insurance (GNI) House on Martins Street, Lagos Island.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Mr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, made the call on Thursday, noting that the exercise is necessary amid concerns that some persons may still be trapped under the collapsed section of the affected building.

Oke-Osanyintolu assured residents that search and rescue operations were ongoing, adding that trained emergency responders, supported by specialised equipment, were working round the clock at the scene.
According to him, anyone who has been unable to reach relatives, colleagues or loved ones believed to have been in or around the building at the time of the fire should visit the LASEMA Complaints Unit at the incident scene to formally register their concerns.
He explained that information gathered would be verified and used to compile a consolidated list of missing persons to support rescue, identification and accountability efforts.

The Permanent Secretary added that LASEMA was working closely with other emergency response, health and security agencies to ensure a coordinated and thorough operation, while also providing timely updates to the public.
He further appealed to residents to cooperate fully with emergency responders as search and rescue activities continue.
