In an interview with EKO HOT BLOG, Dr. Caroline Agunloye, ECOSA’s Founding President, reflected on the chapter’s journey from a fledgling group to an organisation with measurable community impact.
“Six years ago, ECOSA was a budding organization with a mission to serve. Today, it has achieved significant milestones,” she said. “Our goal has always been to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the underprivileged, both in the U.S. and Lagos, Nigeria.
“Since our founding, we’ve completed at least one outreach project each quarter to support our target communities. We take pride in our impact and remain dedicated to broadening our humanitarian initiatives.”

Asked about her hopes for Saturday’s celebration, Dr. Agunloye said the event would go beyond festivities to underline ECOSA’s core purpose.
“We plan to use this milestone to highlight ECOSA’s achievements within Eko Club International. We also aim to showcase our rich Yoruba culture and educate our guests on Eko Club’s true purpose,” she said.
“Many assume Eko Club is solely about social events, but this anniversary is an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to community service, philanthropy, and positive change. We hope to inspire others to join us, because together we can make a difference.”

On the induction of Matrons and Patrons, Dr. Agunloye explained the standards that guide ECOSA’s selection process.
“ECOSA chooses its Matrons and Patrons based on exemplary character, leadership, and dedication to humanitarian work,” she said, listing the criteria as compassion and a caring nature, resourcefulness and wisdom, and integrity paired with visionary leadership.
“Compassion and a caring nature—genuinely caring about others and willing to serve. Resourcefulness and wisdom—mature, intelligent, able to handle crises, and provide sound advice. Integrity and visionary leadership—demonstrating honesty, courage, and the ability to steer ECOSA toward its goals,” she said.
She added that current Matrons Alhaja Titilayo Sanusi and Clara Adodo exemplify those qualities as leaders and philanthropists whose dedication continues to inspire ECOSA and the wider community.
Beyond Sanusi and Adodo, ECOSA’s current roll of Matrons and Patrons includes Chief Freddy Godfrey Yeno, Alhaji Rahman Ashiru, Hon. Abidoye Saaka, Hon. Adetoun Ogbara and Hon. Oluwabukolami Fashola.

But Saturday’s event will see a new class inducted alongside them: Hon. Yetunde Konrad, Matron Eko Club San Antonio; Dr. Philip Soneye; Dr. Omoshile Clement; and Mrs. Olayinka Clement. The evening will also feature the inauguration of ECOSA’s new Executive Committee for the 2026-2028 tenure.
ECOSA’s President, Hon. Esther Seymour-Olade, described the anniversary as a moment to celebrate the chapter’s growth while formally welcoming the leadership that will steer it over the next two years. The chapter’s Public Relations Officer, Hon. Prince Kolapo Agunloye, also said the event offers ECOSA a platform to showcase projects that have often gone under the radar, supporting the underprivileged on both sides of the Atlantic.

On his part, Otunba T.J. Abass, a former President of Eko Club International, noted that ECOSA’s growth mirrors the trajectory of the parent organisation since its founding in Texas in 2000, calling the chapter proof that the founding vision has taken firm root in its host communities.
