The Lagos State Government has reiterated the need for Lagosians in the informal business sector of the economy, especially those in urban areas, to comply with operational standards, rules, and regulations of the government.
The Acting General Manager, Lagos State Planning and Environmental Monitoring Authority, LASPEMA, Engr. Kazeem Olanrewaju disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Secretariat Alausa, Ikeja recently.
He revealed that it has become expedient for the informal business sector operating in urban spaces to align with the State Government’s drive to improve its urban aesthetics for sustainable environmental development.

Olanrewaju maintained that the informal business sector such as car wash, metal scrap dealers, block industry, auto sales dealers, suya spot among others, cannot operate in urban spaces without getting the proper permit from the appropriate authority.
Olanrewaju said the State government is doing this in order to ensure that proper planning guidelines and regulations are put in place so as not to abuse the beauty of the urban spaces.
The Acting General Manager, however, promised that LASPEMA would carry out an awareness campaign periodically to inform and educate the public on operational standards, rules, and regulations as stipulated by the State government.
