LASTMA Dismisses Five Officials, Disciplines Two For Corruption, Misconduct
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has taken stringent action against erring officers, confirming the dismissal of five officials and reprimand of two others for engaging in corruption and misconduct during their duties in the state.
In a statement by the LASTMA Public Relations Officer, Adebayo Taofiq, it was revealed that the disciplinary measures were in response to the indictment of seven LASTMA officers. The Lagos State Civil Service Commission sanctioned the proposals put forth by the Personnel Management Board during their meeting on Tuesday, August 19, 2023.

Taofiq emphasized, “Five LASTMA officials indicted for corruption received a letter of termination of appointment, while the remaining two received a letter of reprimand for absence from duty posts without leave.”
Acting General Manager Bakare Oki asserted that the disciplinary actions were in strict accordance with the Lagos State Civil Service Rules and Regulations. Oki highlighted the importance of the public’s contribution, urging them to share experiences and provide evidence regarding alleged misdemeanors to aid the agency’s improvement.
While urging compliance with state traffic laws to avoid penalties, Taofiq assured swift and impartial investigation into reported complaints, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to upholding Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s objectives outlined in the Transportation Sector Reform Law of 2018.
Taofiq mentioned that the cases involving the remaining 14 indicted LASTMA officials are under administrative review, urging the public to adhere to the Transportation Sector Reform Law of 2018.
In addressing concerns and ensuring prompt action, Taofiq provided various contact channels for complaints, assuring the public of dispassionate and expedited investigations into reported grievances.
