The Professor of Health Education, Faculty of Education, Basirat Olushola Oladipupo has highlighted how health problems can be solved in the country.
She gave the insight while delivering her lecture at the Lagos State University (LASU) 71st Inaugural Lecture on Tuesday.
Speaking on the topic: “Goodie Bag Of Health Problems: Health Educator The Town Crier”, the health education professor disclosed that health issues in the country are alarming and need urgent attention from both government and the individuals.
According to her, health is wealth and all hands must be on deck to sustain a good health care system in the country.
She also argued the need for a change of attitude to healthy living by Nigerians.
She recommended things to be done to reduce health problems to the barest minimum in the country highlighting waste management as one the solution in solving the menace, urging the government to enacts and enforces laws on that put society in check and also reduce health problems in the country.
She said: “All this problem have always been in our society but the first thing to be done in solving these issues is attitudinal change; when you have a change of attitude towards waste then health issues can be reduced to the barest minimum.
“Waste is a big issue which has caused flooding everywhere especially in Lagos and it is being caused mostly by the citizens; some people throw waste from their moving cars and many when it is raining takes all their bins and dump it inside the gutter which later has ripple effects,” She concluded.
