#LekkiMassacre: Nigerians Remember Lekki Toll Gate Incident Five Months After

- The #EndSARS was a demonstration against police brutality and extrajudicial killings
- It peaked amid the COVID-19 partial lock down in October 2020
Today marks exactly five months officers of the Nigerian Army stormed the Lekki Tollgate to enforce a curfew imposed by the Lagos State Government on October 20, 2020.
The Lagos State Government had announced the restriction of movement following widespread violence in some parts of the state after hoodlums took the advantage of the demonstrations to perpetrate wanton chaos in the state.
The soldiers reportedly opened fire on unarmed protesters for declining to leave the toll gate. After several back and forth between the government and some activists in the country as well as international news medium, CNN, the Nigerian government has insisted there were no casualties on the night.

For many weeks blames flew around on whose order the operation was carried out. The Lagos State Governor, Babjide Sanwo-Olu and the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu had been fingered to have had foreknowledge of the operation.
Five months down the line, Nigerians have taken to social media to remember victims and demand that the government take responsibility.
The #LekkiMassacre has since garnered over five thousand tweets on twitter as of the time of filing this report.

20.10.2020 is the spirit of the fight for the survival of Nigeria. Patriots were made martyrs by their own government. We will never forget no matter how much twisted they make history. Light a

The person who ordered the #LekkiMassacre is a Nigerian like us. He still breathes oxygen like us. He still receives love from his family yet he terminated the future of scores of Nigerian youths. It has been 5 months and it will remain evergreen in our hearts.Who is that person?

5 months gone, the question remains..
Who ordered the shootings at the Lekki Toll Gate on 20th October 2020?
They denied #LekkiMassacre, asked for proofs forgetting that we are surrounded by cloud of witnesses in the sky beyond the cameras they removed. #EndSARS || 20:10:20 pic.twitter.com/mF0YLUWsBt

5 months after the carnage by the Nigerian army on peaceful #EndSARS at the #lekkitollgate, Victims of #LekkiMassacre are yet to get justice. No one has been held responsible or accountable.
The impunity of the state yet continues. Our question persists WHO ORDERED THE SHOOTING? https://t.co/On5oKK9BTP— Emmy (@alumsson) March 20, 2021
