EKO HOT BLOG reports that Speed Darlington, a popular Nigerian singer, and rapper, has shared his thoughts on why many entertainers opt for baby mamas instead of getting married.
The musician, whose real name is Darlington Okoye, explained in a series of videos on his Instagram stories that many artists are afraid of losing focus on their careers and going under the radar if they get married and become parents in the entertainment industry.

Darlington cited examples of two singers, FoxyP and AfricanApe, who he said lost their focus after they got married. He described wives and kids as “dream killers” for entertainers, adding that it seemed scary to him to get married.
According to Darlington, having a baby mama is seen as a safer option than legalizing a relationship with a woman who gives birth to their child.
He noted that the effort and time required to raise children and maintain a successful marriage are often a distraction for musicians.
“There’s a pattern. As soon as you have somebody, there’s a child, and you fade. It doesn’t sound like something I want to do. It’s very scary,” Darlington said.
The topic of baby mamas has been a controversial one in the Nigerian entertainment industry, with many public figures choosing to have children outside of marriage.
