Ahead of the 2023 general election, former President of Nigeria has sent a resist and desist message to Nigerians to shun violence.

According to the former President, Nigerians need to eschew hate and promote patriotism as they head into the election.

The message was released through his special adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, as he calls on politicians to exercise the dividends of democracy.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, has called on Nigerians to show true sportsmanship, patriotism, and peace as they prepare to cast their votes in the forthcoming general election on Saturday, February 25th, 2023.
In a message released by his Special Adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan urged politicians to avoid acts of violence and hatred, calling on them to be circumspect in their actions towards consolidating the country’s democracy.

Jonathan noted that Nigerians must not allow the election to be a platform for violence and anarchy, adding that it was important to avoid yielding to the temptation of those who are desirous of making communities and states theatres of conflicts for their selfish interests.
He called for true sportsmanship to be displayed by all, both during and after the election, stating that the 2023 election meant a lot to all Nigerians and described it as a moment of truth and courage.
The former president also appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), critical stakeholders, security agencies, civil and non-partisan groups to carry out their duties professionally during the election.
The 2023 general election will take place across the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with the presidential election scheduled for February 25th.
