Liverpool have reached an agreement with Frankfurt to sign Hugo Ekitike for a fee of $69 million. Frankfurt accepted the offer, which is valued at £79 million, including £69 million guaranteed and an additional £10 million in performance-related bonuses.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the French striker is set to arrive in the UK ahead of a medical scheduled for Tuesday. He is expected to sign a six year contract and will join Liverpool’s tour of Asia shortly after.

Earlier this month, Newcastle had a $70 million bid turned down, as Liverpool maintained interest in Magpies forward Alexander Isak, who enjoyed a standout season with 23 goals in 34 league appearances.
Ekitike, meanwhile, netted 15 goals in 31 matches, helping Frankfurt finish third in the league and secure a spot in next season’s Champions League.
The 22 year old is considered one of Frankfurt’s most successful signings in recent times. Though he was already known when he arrived on loan in early 2024, his career had stalled.
He had previously drawn interest from clubs such as Newcastle while rising through the ranks at Reims. He opted to join Paris Saint Germain but struggled to break into the first team due to stiff competition.
Frankfurt later secured him on a permanent transfer and utilized him both as a lone striker and in a strike partnership under manager Dino Toppmoller.

In the first half of last season, he formed a strong attacking duo with Omar Marmoush, which was disrupted when Manchester City signed Marmoush for £63 million in January.
Although not the most explosive player, Ekitike excels at maneuvering past defenders using intelligent movement. His tactical awareness is one of his key assets, effective both in possession and when pressing high or from midfield.
According to BBC Sport, Ekitike’s signing brings Liverpool’s summer spending to $250 million.
The club also secured German playmaker Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for a British record $116 million, while defenders Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong were signed for a combined £70 million.
Only five players scored more than Ekitike in the Bundesliga last season, and he also contributed eight assists.
