Speaking at the launch, Ogunsan said lasting security cannot rely solely on law enforcement, stressing that prevention and community engagement are critical to building a safer Lagos.
He explained that the campaign is structured to address the underlying factors that make young people vulnerable to cultism and criminal activities, including lack of mentorship, poor value orientation and limited positive opportunities.
According to him, the initiative will focus on advocacy, youth mentorship, school outreach programmes, and strategic partnerships with families, traditional rulers, faith-based organisations, civil society groups and security agencies.

“Our vision is to build a secure and peaceful Lagos where young people are empowered to become responsible and productive citizens,” Ogunsan said. “We aim to reshape mindsets, strengthen community collaboration and promote preventive advocacy that makes neighbourhoods safer.”
The LSSTF boss added that the campaign will also feature community walks and value-based reorientation efforts designed to discourage criminal behaviour and reduce the attraction of cult-related activities.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen public safety and social stability in Lagos State.
