1. Over 1m Nigerians receive N5,000 cash monthly – FG
The Federal Government declared on Thursday that 1,940,004 vulnerable Nigerians were currently receiving N5,000 cash gifts every month.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Farouq, said this at a One-Day Stakeholders’ Retreat On National Social Investment (Establishment) Bill organised by the Senate Committee on Social Duties.
Farouq was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Nasir Gwarzo.
2. Natasha asks INEC to review election results
Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party has asked the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu to review the outcome of the just concluded senatorial election in Kogi Central.
Akpoti-Uduaghan in the letter dated March 1, 2023, is demanding a review of the declaration and return of candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Abubakar Ohore, as winner of the February 25 senatorial election.
Akpoti-Uduaghan in the letter written by her lawyer, Johnson Usman, argued that, “The candidate of APC was wrongly returned with 52,132 votes and declared the winner of the election in the senatorial district while our client was wrongly credited with 51,763 votes”.
3. I’m not aware of Tinubu’s reconciliatory moves – Atiku
The Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday, revealed that he was not aware of any reconciliatory moves by the president-elect, Bola Tinubu.
The PUNCH had earlier reported that the All Progressives Congress set up a reconciliation committee to meet with Atiku, Peter Obi of the Labour Party and other aggrieved candidates of political parties who contested last Saturday’s presidential election.
The committee, according to Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, is to resolve their displeasure and ensure all parties involved work together with the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, for the growth of Nigeria.

4. NASS Polls: INEC to conduct supplementary elections where returns were not made
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has said it will conduct supplementary elections in senatorial and federal constituencies where returns were not made after last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly polls.
INEC National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye disclosed this in statement issued Thursday in Abuja.
“The Commission is aware that in some Senatorial Districts and Federal Constituencies, Declarations and Returns were not made. The Commission is compiling the list of the affected constituencies. A date for supplementary elections will be fixed after the Governorship and State Assembly elections”, he stated.

Precious Chikwendu, ex-wife of former Aviation minister and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Femi Fani-Kayode, has appealed to Nigerians to stop cursing her and her children over their father’s choice of presidential candidate.
Femi Fani-Kayode is currently a member of Bola Tinubu’s presidential campaign council, and known to be vocal on issues pertaining to the ruling party.
In recent time, supporters of opposition parties have taken their grudges held against him out on his ex-wife and children.

Convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju has advised Nigerians especially youths to abandon politicians and focus on their lives following the outcome of the elections held on Saturday.
The rights activist urged Nigerians to forge ahead in life’s activities, warning that this year will soon be history in the twinkling of an eye.
Adeyanju made this known via Twitter on Thursday, in reaction to how Nigerians are engaging debates of the victory of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, who was declared winner and President-elect of the presidential polls on Wednesday.

7. Tinubu a worthy president-elect, Tompolo’s Gbaramatu kinsmen
The Gbaramatu Traditional Council in Warri, Delta State has expressed joy over the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as president-elect.
Gbaramatu is an important Ijaw Kingdom in the Niger Delta and homestead of prominent activists, including Chief Government Ekpemupolo (alias Tompolo) and Delta Deputy Governor, Barr Kingsley Otuaro. among others.
The council, which honoured Tinubu as Iyalawei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, while congratulating the President-elect, attributed his resounding victory at the polls to decades of good works and well-planned strategy.
8. Anxiety as Supreme Court gives verdict on cash swap
There is a sense of uneasiness among Nigerians as they anxiously await the judgment of the Supreme Court in the cases filed by some States to challenge the propriety of the naira swap policy of the Federal Government.
When parties were last in court on February 22, a nine-member panel of the apex court, led by Justice John Okoro, scheduled judgment for March 3 after entertaining final arguments.
The plaintiffs in the cases are Kaduna, Kogi, Zamfara, Katsina, Lagos, Cross River, Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo, Sokoto, Rivers, Kano, Niger, Jigawa, Nasarawa, Plateau and Abia states.
Upon an application by Bayelsa and Edo states, the court, on February 15 joined the two states as co-defendants with the origin sole defendant, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).

The South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA) has congratulated the president-elect, Bola Tinubu on his victory at the last Saturday’s presidential election.
The group, in a statement issued on Thursday by its National Chairman, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, expressed optimism that Bola Tinubu’s administration would perform beyond expectation of Nigerians.
SWAGA also assured Nigerians that the President-elect would promote national “unity, arrest insecurity, accelerate economic prosperity and give renewed hope to Nigerians especially our teeming youth population.”
According to the group, Tinubu’s victory could be likened to the final destination of a political journey which according to them began over four decades ago, “though laced with struggles and thorns unknown to many Nigerians.
10. Tinubu’s victory: Atiku, Obi told to work with APC
Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, has tasked the opposition parties, the PDP and Labour Party, to join hands with the ruling party to take Nigeria to a greater height.
Adamu stated this on Thursday in Abuja, when he spoke with newsmen in Abuja, saying that Tinubu clearly won the February 25 presidential election fair and square.
