1. I have no house in UK – Buhari
The president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Thursday, said he told King Charles III that he has no house in the United Kingdom during his visit to the monarch.
Buhari revealed this while responding to a question in a 25-second video posted by his special assistant on digital media, Tolu Ogunlesi, on Twitter.
The president said, “When he (King Charles III) asked me whether I have a house here (UK), I said no, even in Nigeria, the ones I have are those ones I built before I got into government.
“I am not very much interested in having assets all over the place. I feel freer when I have nothing,” he maintained.
2. Trust us to rebuild Nigeria –Peter Obi
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has urged Nigerians to trust the resolve of the party to change, restore and rebuild Nigeria.
He assured that under his watch if elected president, Nigeria would change for the better.
Obi spoke in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State on Thursday during the flag-off campaign of the governorship candidate of the party in the state, Alex Otti.
Obi lamented that major industries that made up the centre of local production of goods in Aba and other major cities in Nigeria, were dying because of adverse business policies in Nigeria.
3. IGP redeploys eight CPs, says posting normal
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the posting and redeployment of eight Commissioners of Police to state commands and formations across the country for operational and administrative effectiveness.
Baba said the exercise was done in line with the Manpower Development Policy of the Force, adding that it would further improve policing services across the country.

4. More than 5, 000 teachers will get employment letter in few days – Soludo
Governor of Anambra state, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has said more than 5,000 teachers in the state will get their employment letter in few days.
Soludo made this disclosure in an interview with Channels TV’s Politics Today on Thursday.
He said, “We are handing out employment letter to more than 5, 000 teachers to end an era of schools without teachers.
“We are also going to have 240 plus doctors and consultants to man our general hospitals, so if you look at the five fingers approach of our programmes we designed our budget to keep our eyes on the ball,” Soludo added.
5. Delta govt spends N1.5bn monthly on pensions – Okowa’s spokesman
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Delta, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, says the Senator Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration in the state spends no less than N1.5 billion monthly in servicing pension obligations.
Ifeajika made this known while answering questions on a radio programme in Asaba, and said that it was not true that the state government was not paying pensions regularly.
He debunked rumours that the government had abandoned pensioners in the state to their own fate.
The governor’s image maker restated that the Okowa administration inherited over N60 billion unpaid pension and been defraying it in addition to paying persons who retired since he assumed office and had pushed up the liabilities.

The Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Gani Adams on Thursday urged Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) and Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos) to allow the newly inaugurated Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, dependable team and the South West Security Stakeholders Group, SSSG, to flush kidnappers and bandits operating along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Aare Adams, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media Kehinde Aderemi, expressed concern over the incessant attacks on travelers plying the road.
He said since the police had failed to honour the earlier arrangements to provide effective security along the road, it is pertinent to ask the governors to allow the OPC, Amotekun and other security groups like the Hunters, Vigilante, COMSAIC, Isokan Oodua under the auspices of the SSSG to get rid of terrorists from the bushes.
Expressing worry over the spate of insecurity along the road, Adams stated that the only way out of the quagmire is to allow the OPC to face the battle for the restoration of peace along the road.

7. NUC grants license for Osun College of Education to varsity
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has handed the operational license for the upgraded Osun State College of Education Ilesa, to a full-fledged University to the Osun State government.
The commission noted that with the upgrade, the former College of Education would now be called University of Ilesa, making it 220th university in Nigeria.
The Commission said the approval was a sequel to the request by the State Government for the upgrade and their ability to meet the criteria for the establishment of new university or upgrade of existing institution.
Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, handed over the provisional license of the new institution to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola at NUC headquarters in Abuja, on Thursday.
Prof Rasheed congratulated the State government for the success and encouraged the management of the new university to approach the Commission for any professional or institutional support so that it won’t operate contrary to established guidelines which might attract severe sanctions.
8. Igbos in Lagos assure APC massive votes
The Ndi’igbo Independent Campaign Group (NICG) for the All Progressive Congress party (APC) has promised to deliver massive votes for the APC candidates in the 2023 election.
The Coordinator and secretary of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Lagos state, Robert Obase spoke at a sensitisation programme in Festac, Lagos.
The programme was organised to identify with the host community and ensure that the Igbos in the LGA are mobilised to vote for the APC.
“Lagos has been so kind to Ndigbo; they have given our daughters, especially in Amuwo Odofin, an office of the vice chairmen. To reciprocate their gesture, we decided to organise this campaign to ensure that our people vote wisely for APC during the forthcoming election,” he said.
He appealed to follow the Igbos to vote for APC. This is where we make money and that is why we want to cherish it and preserve it,” he said.

9. Gov Buni presents over N163.1 billion as 2023 budget estimate
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has disclosed that his administration plans to spend the sum of N163,155,366,000 for 2023 fiscal year.
Buni made the disclosure on Thursday while presenting the 2023 finance and appropriation bills before the State House of Assembly in pursuance of section 121, sub-section (1) 2 of the 1999 Constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
Tagged budget of, “THE BUDGET OF CONTINUITY, CONSOLIDATION AND ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION”, the governor the budget estimate is 0.49% decrease compared to that of 2022.
“Recurrent expenditure is to gulp Eighty-seven Billion, Eight Hundred Million, Seven Hundred and Seventeen Thousand Naira (N87,800,717,000) representing 57%. The sum of Seventy-five Billion, Three Hundred and Fifty-four Million, Six Hundred and Forty-nine Thousand Naira (N75,354,649,000) representing 43% is earmarked for capital expenditure”, he explained.
10. Tension in Taraba over plan to rotate Takum kingship stool
The plan by Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State to rotate the kingship stool of Ukwe Takum among the Kuteb, Chamba and Kpanzon ethnic groups is creating tension in the state.
Various groups have been mounting pressure on the governor to let sleeping dogs lie by dropping his plans to rotate the stool which the Kuteb nation believed is inalienably theirs.
The Southern Taraba Youths Coalition for Peace (STYCOP) on Thursday expressed dismay over the plan. Led by its founder and President, Ambassador Rikwense Muri, the group is insisting that the Ukwe stool belongs to the Kuteb and no any other tribe.
Citing the historical background of the stool, the group advised the governor and those hatching the rotational plan to discard the scheme and give peace a chance in the state.
