1. Abuja pastors endorse Tinubu, CAN kicks
A delegation of Abuja-based pastors and bishops on Sunday threw their weight behind the Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who they described as having the right frame of mind to rule the country.
But hours after the endorsement, the Christians Association of Nigeria kicked against the move, saying CAN is standing on its earlier stance of “No to same-faith ticket”.
The endorsement of the former Lagos State Governor by clerics under the aegis of the Nigerian Coalition of Pastors for Good Leadership took place after a town hall with some party chieftains of Tinubu’s support group, City Boy Movement.
In a statement jointly signed by the coalition president, Apostle Babatunde Oguntimehin, and secretary, Revd Friday Obi, the ministers disclosed that it would be unfair for Nigerians to sacrifice the capacity of the APC candidate on the altar of the contentious Muslim-Muslim ticket.
2. Debate: We want only presidential candidates, participants insist
Drama ensued at the presidential debate slated to start at 7:30pm at Arise TV Town Hall, as Nigerians present at the town hall meeting rejected vice presidential candidates from speaking on behalf of presidential candidates.
In a video posted on Twitter by @KnightSirdam, the participants gathered could be heard saying, the vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ifeanyi Okowa, would not be allowed to represent the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar at the debate.
Present at the debate are; presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi; presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso; presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, Kola Abiola.
3. Debate: Atiku sought permission to be absent — Okowa
The vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, has said the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, obtained permission from the organiser’s of the debate to be absence from the session.
Speaking on behalf of Atiku, at the Arise TV Town Hall meeting on Sunday night, Okowa said the presidential candidate will be present at the debate, saying the event today is a tmeeting not a debate.
The PUNCH had earlier reported that drama ensued at the location as some Nigerians who attended the meeting demanded only presidential candidates to speak, saying Okowa would be refused to participate.

4. I’ll raise number of security personnel to curb insecurity – Kwankwaso
The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso on Sunday vowed to revamp the nation’s security architecture through raising the number of personnel of the Nigeria Police and Armed Forces to at least million each.
He made the remarks while answering a question on security (How he would have addressed the issue of Abuja–Kaduna train attack, if he were president) at the first in a series of town hall meetings organised by Centre for Democracy and Development and Arise TV for Nigeria’s 2023 election presidential candidates.
As a former minister of defence, I would have ensured the situation would not even happened.
He explained that the number of Nigeria’s military, and poilice which is respectively above 200,000 will be pushed up to 1million to combat insecurity.
5. Vote for me because I’m competent, not because ‘it’s my turn’ — Obi
Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has told Nigerians not to vote for him based on ethnic or entitlement sentiments, but on the competence he comes with.
The former Anamabra State Governor stated this during the Presidential Town Hall series organized by Arise TV on Sunday.
According to Obi, he has the capacity to take Nigeria out of its current predicament and on that basis should Nigerians vote for him.
He affirmed that it is nobody’s turn but that of the youth and the women.
6. I’ll address welfare of our armed forces – Kola Abiola
Presidential candidate under the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Kola Abiola has vowed to improve on the welfare standard of the men of the Nigeria Armed Forces.
Abiola made this promise while speaking at the Presidential Town Hall Meeting Series organized by Centre for Democractic Development (CDD) in collaboration with Arise TV.
He said, “We nee to address the security architecture. The will is there, we need to ensure implementation and look at the welfare of our armed forces.
“If you meet a bandit leader and he says there’s no difference between you and us, what would you say?

7. Police warn against destruction of campaign materials in A/Ibom
Police in Akwa Ibom warned political saboteurs on Sunday to desist from defacing, destroying billboards and posters of opponents.
Police spokesman, SP Odiko Macdon, issued the warning in a statement in Uyo.
Macdon stated police commissioner in the state, Mr Olatoye Durosinmi, was not happy with the attitude of some political stakeholders, who engage in campaigns of calumny and destruction of opponents; billboards and posters.
“The police commissioner is dismayed and miffed at the attitude of some political stakeholders, especially as it pertains to the 2023 general elections campaigns.
“Some unscrupulous persons have left the acceptable norms of politics and are now involved in campaigns of calumny, destruction and defacing of opponents; billboards and posters.
8. UPDATED: G-5 PDP Govs hit Benue
The G-five Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Governors have arrived Makurdi, capital of Benue State for the commissioning of some projects executed by Governor Samuel Ortom and flag off of the 2023 election campaigns.
Ortom, the host Governor, received his four other colleagues at the airport and moved to the Government Lodge at Government House.
Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo); Ikpeazu Okezie (Abia); Nyesom Wike (Rivers) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) with Ortom have been demanding the resignation of National Chairman of the party Senator Iyorchia Ayu as a condition to support Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the party.
They are expected to hold a closed-door meeting.
On Monday, they will commission some projects executed by Ortom as well as kick off the PDP campaigns.

9. Nigerian military bomb ISWAP leaders Ali Kwaya, Bukar Mainoka in Lake Chad
Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) leaders Ali Kwaya and Bukar Mainoka have been eliminated.
They were killed in an operation by Nigerian military fighter jets at Lake Chad on Saturday, according to PRNigeria.
Kwaya and Mainoka were influential members of the ISWAP Shura (Consultation) Council.
They died after the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai conducted air interdiction missions at Belowa.
Belowa, one of the ISWAP/Boko Haram enclaves in the Tumbuns, is located in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State, on the western coast of Lake Chad
10. Army wades into Aladja, Ogbe-Ijoh community crisis
The Nigerian Army has waded into the renewed crisis between the Aladja Community in the Udu Local Government Area and Ogbe-Ijoh community in the Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to the Army authorities, their presence will restore peace and order.
In a release by the Commander, 63 Brigade, Brigadier General MLD Saraso, said, “at about 5:15pm on Saturday 5th November, 2022, troops of 3 Battalion (Rear) deployed on patrol duties at the border area between Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja communities received a distressed call from some locals in Ogbe-Ijoh”.
The Army attributed the resurgence of the crisis to the locals from Ogbe-Ijoh, who had alleged that youths from Aladja destroyed a symbolic flag site at their community roundabout.
The Army stated, “it was gathered that the community clan flag of unascertained significance has been traditionally mounted at a site in the area by youths of Ogbe-Ijoh
