1. N13m fraud: ICPC secures conviction of director, firm
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has secured the conviction of one Mr. Ojoko Robinson, a director with Rojoke CNE Services Limited, and the company, for contract fraud to the tune of N13,710,252.44.
The commission had filed seven charges against Robinson and the company before Hon. Justice N. O. Dimgba of the Federal High Court, Asaba Judicial Division, on allegations bordering on forgery.
The spokesperson for the ICPC, Azuka Ogugua, revealed this in a statement on Friday.
2. Obi predicts new, prosperous Nigeria
Ahead of the presidential election slated for this month, the candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has said a new, prosperous Nigeria is waiting to emerge if he is elected.
Obi made the declaration on his campaign tour of the South-East which took him to Abia and Ebonyi states on Friday.
The former Anambra State governor promised to invest massively in critical infrastructure, education, and health to turn around the fortunes of the country and the prosperity of her people.
3. New naira: How Oyo miscreants vandalised, razed police station
Following the scarcity of fuel and new Naira notes, some miscreants within the popular Araromi Spare parts, Gate, on Friday, took advantage of protest in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, and set ablaze police station and vandalise WEMA Bank in the area.
The peaceful protest, which started at Iwo road, suddenly turned brutal as protesters destroyed both government and private property along the roads.
The angry youths, who had earlier assembled at Iwo road, end of Lagos-Ibadan expressway, blocked all the major roads thereby causing artificial hindrances before heading towards Idi-Ape Agodi-Gate.

7. Naira crisis may halt polls, El-Rufai warns
Kaduna Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has warned the escalating scarcity of naira notes across the country can either mar or prevent the upcoming general elections from holding if not quickly addressed.
Governor El-Rufai spoke to some journalists in Hausa language after President Muhammadu Buhari met with the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, over cash crisis.
He said the governors have appealed to Buhari to allow the old and new naira notes co-exist to ease the suffering of Nigerians.
The Governor also revealed that while the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) mopped up over N2 trillion of the old notes, it printed only N300 billion, which he said is not enough.
8. Man sets wife ablaze for not preparing dinner
Police have arrested 46-year-old Hassan Azeez for setting his wife ablaze after pouring petrol on her.
The victim and mother of one, Olayinka Hassan, was said to have rebuffed her husband’s directive to serve him food while he was hungry.
Police operatives from Ibogun Divisional Headquarters in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State arrested Azeez after a complaint by father of the victim that she was set ablaze by her husband over a minor disagreement

9. Atiku blames Tinubu for Naira scarcity in Nigeria
The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organization has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC), Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the one behind naira scarcity.
Atiku’s campaign also described Tinubu as the real enemy of Nigerians insisting that “Tinubu is the mastermind of the new naira notes crunch who had made the people suffer untold hardship ever known in our national history”.
In a statement by one of its spokespersons, Kola Ologbondiyan, Friday, the Aitku Campaign alleged that Tinubu has been involved in a high-level criminal racket by sabotaging the system, intercepting and diverting millions of new naira notes meant for distribution to Nigerians for his selfish.
10. Court sentences two ex-SARS officers to death by hanging for murder
A High Court in Port Harcourt has sentenced two former members of the disbanded Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, to death by hanging for extra-judicial killing.
Five members of the Anti Robbery Squad, Shedrack Ibibo, ASP Samuel Chigbu, Magus Awuri, Olisa Emeka and Ogoligo, were standing trial for the murder of Michael Igwe,and Michael Akor while in their custody for allegedly stealing recharge cards in 2015 in Oyigbo Local Government Area of the State.
But Ogoligo and ASP Samuel Chigbu died in custody at the Port Harcourt correctional centre while Shedrack Ibibo, Olisa Emeka and Magus Awuri continued with the trial.
